Indie Film Festival Awards Returns

“Filmmakers don’t just create films; they create stories that will never die.” - Mukesh Modi

New York, NY — Acclaimed Indian-American filmmaker Mukesh Modi, recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will host the Indie Film Festival Awards (IFFA) from August 4–6, 2026, in New York City. The three-day international celebration of independent cinema will take place at the iconic Quad Cinema, with the awards ceremony honoring outstanding filmmakers from around the globe. Founded by Modi as a nonprofit initiative, IFFA was created to recognize, empower, and promote the creative excellence of independent filmmakers worldwide. The festival continues to expand its global footprint, serving as a vital platform for emerging and established storytellers alike. Last year, IFFA received 115 submissions from more than 20 countries, with over 50 films selected for theatrical screenings—demonstrating the festival’s growing international reach and influence.
“Our goal is to give indie filmmakers a platform to shine,” says Modi. “IFFA is here to make sure their voices are heard, their films are seen, and their efforts are celebrated with pride.”

Supporting Independent Cinema Beyond the Festival
IFFA is more than a showcase—it is a support system for filmmakers navigating today’s competitive industry landscape. Through resources, mentorship, networking opportunities, and a pathway to global distribution via the Indie Films World streaming platform, IFFA helps creators overcome the barriers often faced within traditional film channels.
Modi founded IFFA after recognizing the limited access independent creators have to distribution and global exposure.
“IFFA isn’t just a festival—it’s a movement to protect creativity, keep culture alive, and give dreamers the tools to succeed,” he adds.
