Himachal Pradesh | New York – Acclaimed international filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient Mukesh Modi is set to transport audiences to the spiritual heart of the Himalayas with his upcoming feature film “Khoonta”, a cinematic celebration of faith, culture, and identity. Produced under Indie Films World and D Star Entertainment, the film has completed principal photography and is slated for release by mid-2026, with submissions for the Academy Awards (Oscars) already underway.

 

Inspired by the Hati Samudaye of Himachal Pradesh’s Giripar region, as well as the Gaddi and Jaunsari communities, Khoonta offers a rare and authentic glimpse into a civilization deeply anchored in spirituality, tradition, and resilience. The film vividly showcases centuries-old customs, folklore, and a profound reverence for nature, bringing the Himalayan way of life to international audiences.

 

 

At its core, Khoonta explores the ancestral struggles and spiritual practices of Giripar’s people, highlighting their devotion to Devta Mahasu Maharaj and the guiding power of the Ashta Shakti. Through sacred rituals, village fairs, and living traditions, the film captures not just folklore, but the enduring spirit of a community navigating modern challenges while honoring its heritage.

Set against snow-clad peaks, pine-covered valleys, and vibrant cultural landscapes, Khoonta is more than a film—it is a living archive of Himalayan faith and heritage.
