Sanat Chattopadhyay is President of Merck Manufacturing, overseeing global manufacturing and supply operations for pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, and animal health products, contributing to the company’s $65 billion revenue in 2025 across 140+ countries.
A distinguished biopharma leader, Sanat spearheaded the global expansion of Gardasil, the world’s largest cervical cancer vaccine, and led the rapid launch of KEYTRUDA, the world’s largest cancer treatment for 19 tumors across 40 indications. Under his leadership, Merck—renowned for innovative research and home to a 2015 Nobel Laureate—is investing over $20 billion to expand manufacturing capacity and reach more patients worldwide.
Sanat holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University and a postgraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai. He is recognized as a prominent pioneering Indian American leader in the global biopharmaceuticals industry and serves on the Boards of Governors of IIM Mumbai, the USA-India Chamber of Commerce, and the USA-India Strategic Partnership Forum.
He sponsored substantial contributions in COVID-19 aid to India and has made significant philanthropic contributions to the Ramakrishna Mission, Jadavpur University, and the India-America Arts Council in New York.
