Himachal Pradesh : The majestic Himalayas are set to witness a unique cinematic journey as writer-director Anu Sharma and producer Mukesh Modi bring their much-awaited feature film Khoonta to life. Produced under the banners of Indie Films World and D Star Entertainment, the film officially began shooting on September 22, 2025.
Deeply inspired by the Hati Samudaye of Himachal Pradesh’s Giripar region, the Gaddi community, and Jaunsari culture—a rich blend of traditions, spirituality, and resilience—Khoonta promises to take audiences on an authentic cultural and spiritual journey.
At its core, Khoonta is a story of heritage, faith, and identity. The narrative explores the ancestral struggles and spiritual practices of the people of Giripar, with a special focus on their devotion to Devta Mahasu Maharaj and the Ashta Shakti that guide their everyday lives. Through powerful storytelling and breathtaking visuals of local fairs, rituals, and sacred traditions, the film aims to capture not only folklore but also the living spirit of a community whose cultural pride stands strong amidst modern-day challenges.
A Cinematic Celebration of Faith & Culture

“Khoonta is a heartfelt tribute to the people of Himachal, their unwavering faith, and their bond with nature. Through this film, we want the world to see the strength, spirituality, and beauty of these communities and their devotion to Mahasu Maharaj.”
Producer Mukesh Modi added:
