Jaipur, Rajasthan: The Jaipur Rabies Elimination Project is emerging as a model public health initiative, bringing together leading organizations to tackle rabies through a comprehensive, science-based approach. This joint effort by Mission Rabies, Vedanta, the Anil Agarwal Foundation, and Help in Suffering (HIS) is creating measurable impact across the city.

The project is built on three critical pillars of rabies control—mass dog vaccination, disease surveillance, and community awareness—and is being implemented across both the heritage areas and the rapidly growing new city zones of Jaipur.

In a significant achievement so far, over 14,000 dogs have been vaccinated against rabies, strengthening herd immunity and reducing transmission risks. At the same time, more than 15,000 residents have been reached through rabies education and awareness sessions, empowering communities with life-saving knowledge on prevention, bite management, and early reporting.

Public health experts see this initiative as a landmark effort for Rajasthan, with the potential to become a blueprint for rabies elimination programs across the state and beyond. By combining corporate support, nonprofit expertise, and grassroots engagement, the Jaipur Rabies Elimination Project demonstrates how collaborative action can drive sustainable change and move India closer to a rabies-free future.
