'The Odyssey' Nears 100 Crore India Gross, Becomes Christopher Nolan's Biggest Opening Hit

 

Christopher Nolan’s historical epic The Odyssey has continued its impressive run at the Indian box office, inching closer to the ₹100 crore gross milestone within five days of its release. Backed by strong word-of-mouth and a star-studded cast, the film has emerged as the director’s biggest opening in India. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected ₹5.52 crore net on its fifth day (Tuesday), taking its total India net collection to ₹75.17 crore. The India gross collection has reached approximately ₹89.65 crore, with the final Day 5 figures expected to rise after late-night show reports are included.

 

The film enjoyed a remarkable opening weekend, earning ₹17.40 crore on Friday, followed by ₹22 crore on Saturday and ₹21.90 crore on Sunday. Despite the usual weekday decline, it maintained a solid hold by collecting ₹8.35 crore on Monday before posting another healthy performance on Tuesday. Internationally, The Odyssey has also performed strongly. In North America, the film reportedly earned $17.5 million on its first Monday, recording the biggest Monday collection of 2026. It outperformed Nolan’s Oscar-winning Oppenheimer on the same milestone but remains behind The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises in Monday earnings. With a four-day North American total of $141 million and a worldwide opening of $263.7 million, The Odyssey has become the biggest global opening of Christopher Nolan’s career, surpassing the previous record held by The Dark Knight Rises. Based on Homer’s timeless Greek epic, the film follows King Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, as he embarks on a perilous journey home after the Trojan War.
