Hyderabad : Eminent Indian-American radiation oncologist Dr Dattatreyudu Nori has been conferred the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of medicine and cancer care.
 
The prestigious honor was presented by Droupadi Murmu during an investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. The award acknowledges Dr Nori’s decades-long commitment to advancing cancer treatment and improving patient outcomes across the globe. Widely recognized as a pioneer in radiation oncology, Dr Nori has made significant contributions to cancer research, treatment, and education over a distinguished career spanning more than 40 years. His groundbreaking work has helped shape modern oncology practices and has benefited thousands of patients worldwide. Dr Nori served as Professor and Chairman of Oncology and Director of the Cancer Centre at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, one of the world’s leading medical institutions.
 
During his tenure, he led several pioneering initiatives in cancer treatment and played a key role in developing innovative radiation therapy techniques.
His research and clinical expertise have contributed to significant improvements in cancer survival rates, particularly through advancements in targeted radiation therapies and multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
