Jaipur, April 29 — In a night to remember at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up the IPL with a historic century, etching his name into the record books with a whirlwind 101 off just 38 deliveries for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.

The prodigious left-hander reached his hundred in just 35 balls, making it the second-fastest century in IPL history, only behind Chris Gayle’s legendary 30-ball ton in 2013. Suryavanshi also shattered Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian, earning accolades from the veteran all-rounder himself.

Not only did Vaibhav become the youngest player to notch a century in T20 cricket—surpassing Vijay Zol’s record set in 2013—but he also created history earlier in the same match by becoming the youngest batter ever to score a T20 fifty at just 14 years and 32 days. This remarkable feat dethroned Afghanistan’s Hassan Eisakhil, who previously held the record at 15 years and 360 days.

Suryavanshi had already become the youngest debutant in IPL history when he made his first appearance for Rajasthan Royals at 14 years and 23 days in a recent match against Lucknow Super Giants.

Speaking after his trailblazing knock, the young star remained grounded.

“It’s a dream come true. I just see the ball and play. Batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal brings positivity. He keeps guiding me, and it helps a lot,” said Vaibhav. “There is no fear. I just focus on playing my game.”

With sixes and fours flowing from his bat, Suryavanshi’s fearless strokeplay helped RR chase down a daunting target of 210 with confidence. His rise promises a bright future for Indian cricket and adds a new chapter to the ever-evolving IPL folklore.

Cricket has found its next wonderkid—and his name is Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
