Actress Pratibha Ranta recently took
home the Best Debut trophy at IIFA 2025 for her stellar performance in the
critically acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies. Expressing her excitement to IANS,
Ranta shared, “I’m overwhelmed and grateful to receive the Best Debut award.
Coming from Shimla with big dreams, this moment feels surreal. I remember
watching IIFA as a child, and today, I’m holding this prestigious trophy.”
Reflecting on her role in Laapataa

that represents my journey and my effort to bring relatable stories to the

Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies
sees Pratibha in the role of Jaya, a small-town woman who defies societal norms
and chooses to pursue her dreams instead of following the traditional path of
early marriage.
Speaking about her character, Pratibha

believes in putting herself first.
The film sheds light on the aspirations of
