Nagpur : On the occasion of its Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) successfully organized a one-day seminar titled “Challenges in Various Veterinary Surgical Techniques in Dogs and Cats and Avenues for Global Opportunities.” The academic event brought together veterinarians, postgraduate scholars, and undergraduate students for an enriching exchange of knowledge and global perspectives.
The seminar featured Dr. Ravi Murarka, President of the American Association of Veterinarians of Indian Origin (AAVIO) and Co-Founder of Compassion Pet Clinic, Pennsylvania, USA, as the expert speaker. Dr. Murarka delivered an insightful and practice-oriented lecture that was highly appreciated by participants.
The program was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Chief Patron Dr. N. V. Patil, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur, along with Dr. S. V. Upadhye, Director of Instruction and Dean, Faculty, MAFSU; Dr. N. V. Kurkure, Director of Research, MAFSU; and Dr. S. W. Bonde, Director of Extension, MAFSU. The event was chaired by Dr. S. D. Ingole, Chairman and Associate Dean, MVC.
The seminar was coordinated by Dr. G. S. Khandekar, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, MVC, with Dr. S. D. Tripathi, Dr. S. V. Gaikwad, and Dr. R. R. Rohi serving as coordinators.
Dr. Murarka’s lecture focused on the diagnosis and management of common yet challenging feline conditions, including urinary obstruction, hyperthyroidism, nasopharyngeal polyps, aural hematoma, dental resorption, saddle thrombus, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The session provided valuable clinical insights and highlighted global opportunities in veterinary practice and specialization.
The seminar proved to be highly informative and motivating for all attendees. MAFSU expressed its commitment to organizing many more such academic programs in the future to strengthen clinical skills, research outlook, and global exposure in veterinary sciences.
